Oven Adventures

My mom went to Vernon and brought back a huge bounty of fresh, local fruit. A flat of the juicest peaches ever and a giant bag of prune plums. A flat of tomotoes that were red and smelled like tomatoes. I know that sounds weird but have you smelled a tomato from the grocery store? They smell like nothing. It’s odd. These tomatoes smelled and tasted like a tomato from your garden. Oh and garlic. My cousin actually grows and sells organic garlic and I got a brown bag full! I was a very, very happy girl, then I realized I had to do something with this stuff and fast.

A couple of months ago and group of food bloggers were chatting on Twitter and discovered they all suffer from the red faced running syndrome. Instead of being embarrassed they decided to embrace their red faces. They started a website and a facebook page. The put out a challenge. Run a 5k race the weekend of September 8th.

Our wedding was scheduled for June 30th, 2012.  We had almost everything planned and some deposits put down.  Everything was on track but the more we looked at it the more we realized as parents of 2 with really only 1 income and a mortgage, spending a ridiculous amount of money on a wedding just isn’t in the cards for us.  With a heavy heart we cancelled our dream wedding. –keep reading
