Oven Adventures

I have been a total blog failure lately.  I’ve basically ignored the computer for weeks.  Sometimes life just gets in the way.  First, it was Little Misters birthday party, then birthday, then summer decided to show up for a week.  There were picnics and water parks and reading outside in the sun.  Flip flops, suntan lotion and bbqs.  It was amazing.

I think like many others I watch Hurricane Sandy rip through the east coast last week. It was crazy to see the water, wind and flooding. I was glued to CNN steadily watching the water rise. I don’t think it was really apparent how bad the destruction was until the light of day.

Max is almost 6 months old now.  It’s crazy how big our little yellow lab puppy has gotten.  He’s about 45 pounds.  He already out weighs both the kids.  I take him out every day and we usually go by our local dog park.  He has a best friend.  I didn’t know dogs could have best friends but Max totally does.  Her name is Maddie and she is a 9 month old husky X.  They are crazy when they get together.  They wrestle and chase.  It’s hilarious to watch.

I’ve had these in my head for a while.  Roasting banana and then putting them in cupcakes just seemed like the right thing to do.  I kept trying to save bananas but they would disappear before I could get them in the oven.  Finally I bought an obscene amount of banana and got them in the oven.  Success never tasted so sweet, so cute, or sprinkley. –keep reading

I was in the kitchen making these brownies last Sunday night. Ris and the kids were in the living room watching Rio. Little Miss came in and said she was hungry. I decided to make some popcorn.

I pulled out the air popper from the 80′s fired it up and dumped the seeds in. The little lid where the butter dish used to sit on the top of the lid was gone but I just left it and the popcorn was pouring out into the bowl.  What a cute little memory right??  When all of a sudden a flaming hot unpopped kernel FLEW up out of the top of the popcorn maker and fell down my shirt.
